Switchgear Test
The switchgear attached to your transformer are arguably the most important installation; protecting and ensuring maintenance can be carried out safely. T.P. Power services can test and manage your switchgear as part of a maintenance contract or as an individual service. We are determined to offer comprehensive tests with the use of certified equipment that allows us to monitor, detect and rectify any problems at an early stage: remember - prevention is better than cure!Switchgear users are required by law to provide management systems to ensure their safe operation and minimise the risk of injury. T.P. Power Services offer a full testing and management service helping you adhere to these laws, which should include the following regulatory requirements:

Policies & procedures covering the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and removal of the equipment

Definitions of responsibilities and training requirements for your personnel

Auditing regime for all switchgear in use, monitoring, maintaining and recording its effectiveness, including network diagrams and system configurations
T.P. Power Services cannot proceed with testing until a full switchgear record has been provided, ensuring the safe welfare of our engineers and on-site personnel.

Diagram(s) of the electrical network including interconnections between plant items

Asset Register including manufacturer, type, serial number, year of manufacture, installation date, voltage and current rating, short-circuit rating and type of operating mechanism

Operational limitations

Maintenance record of each item of switchgear

Fault clearance operations since circuit-breakers were last maintained

Modifications, e.g. fitting of anti-reflex control handles

Arc control devices for oil-filled circuit-breakers
The availability of these records will allow T.P. Power Services to assess the initial safety of the electrical network and switchgear to identify any potential risks or problems. Once the initial safety check has been completed, we will assess whether or not the equipment and its associated systems are being operated correctly, identify the necessary remedial action(s), and take appropriate action based on the safety of the electrical equipment and the technical expertise of your in-house personnel.Contact T.P.
