The removal, refitting and re-welding of three low Voltage IPB’s for Centrica had to be completed to allow the replacement of defective low voltage bushings within a 145MVA power transformer
TP Power Services picked by BP to complete the rewind of the main drilling transformer on their BP harding platform in the North Sea.
Through a personal recommendation, our head project engineer was contracted to be Intergen’s technical, mechanical and electrical consultant when a 310MVA, YNd1, oil-directed air-forced (ODAF) generator transformer significantly malfunctioned early in its working life. To complicate matters; differential MVA ratings and voltage applications compared to the other two transformers meant units were not interchangeable, leaving the only conceivable contingency plans those of substantial repair and maintenance, or replacement which would incur and 12 – 15 month lead time.TP Powers Services Ltd continues technical consultancy during repairs and will continue to support Intergen in the matter of investigating responsibility.
